Spicy Roasted Potato Wedges

These crispy, chewy, spicy, smokey, yummy potato wedges are a standard in our house! They are simple to make and turn out great every time. Get some clean organic ketchup or ranch and dip away. I hope you enjoy theme as much as we do!

Health Tip! Be sure to use organic potatoes because potatoes are on the Dirty Dozen Plus list and are highly contaminated by pesticide if grown conventionally (I think of them as little toxin sponges!). It is also a very good idea to remove all sprouts or eyes off of your potatoes if there are any since those are areas that have very high levels of solanine which is toxic if eaten in high amounts. There is evidence that eating green potatoes can be damaging to health as well so look for organic potatoes with no green areas, no sprouts, and no eyes. Here's the recipe:


6 medium large organic Russet potatoes (you must use Russets because of their low moisture content and high starch level)

3 tablespoons high quality puree olive oil or avocado oil 

Spice Blend:

1 tablespoon pure sea salt or pink himalayan salt

 2 teaspoons of freshly ground pepper

1 1/2teaspoons of onion powder

1/2 teaspoons of garlic powder

1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoon cayenne pepper


Preheat oven to 400

Wash and cut the potatoes in half length wise, cut each half in half length wise so each potato has now made 4 quarters. Cut each quarter in half lengthwise. Each potato has now given you 8 long wedges so using 6 potatoes has given you a total of 48 long wedges. Place the wedges and olive oil in a large bowl and toss to coat the wedges in oil. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of spice blend into the bowl and toss to coat. Lay each wedge skin side down on a baking sheet so the cut sides are facing up.


Sprinkle remaining 1 tablespoon of seasoning blend over the wedges so the cut sides are evenly covered with the delicious seasonings! 

Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes, turn heat down to 300 and continue baking for 20 minutes. 

Turn oven off and leave the wedges in the oven for 10 minutes-this step makes them nice and puffy!

Remove the wedges from oven and serve immediately with your favorite dip! Enjoy!
